Out of New Media
Out of New Media is a student thesis video game from Leon Kim, a top-down RPG in the vein of Zelda and Pokemon about attempting to graduate from the New Media program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
I created three unique pieces of music for the game, doing my best to restrict the complexities of the arrangement, in order to emulate the limitations of retro console sound chips, which lead to the creation of dozens of iconic melodies in the 80's and 90's.
UnafFORDable
UnafFORDable was another student thesis project, in this case a film about the cuts to student funding by the Ford government in Ontario. The directors requested I write enough music to fill the entire ~30min piece. In contrast to Out of New Media, this music was focused on acoustic sounds, often just piano, and trying to squeeze complex emotions out of the harmonies.
